From Athlete to Clinical Therapist: A Path Defined by Purpose, Adaptation, and Evidence-Based Care

With over 38 years of dedicated experience in the fitness and performance domain—spanning aerobics instruction, circuit training leadership, and competitive recognition at the ANB British Finals—my career has been built upon functional movement, discipline, and biomechanical awareness.

Parallel to a successful career in accountancy, I cultivated a diverse athletic portfolio that includes personal training, resistance-based programming, cross-country and ultra-endurance running, as well as adventure sports such as abseiling, mountain climbing, snowboarding, ice skating, and triathlon. I have participated in multiple half and full marathons, completed a year of ultra-distance running across the Pennine Way, and finished several triathlons including the 70.3 Ironman. I am currently preparing for the Hyrox Race in Madrid 2025—a fusion of endurance and strength performance.

In 2014, a spinal injury resulting in disc herniation and subsequent surgery necessitated a pivotal transition. During rehabilitation, I discovered the clinical efficacy and holistic value of Sports Massage Therapy. Since qualifying in 2015, I have supported hundreds of clients in restoring functional mobility and self-efficacy through individualized therapeutic protocols and progressive rehabilitation strategies.

Currently, I am advancing my clinical competencies through the BTEC Level 6 Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy diploma with the Jing Institute, specialising in chronic pain management. I am nearing completion of the first year and will soon hold the Level 5 clinical designation, equipping me with advanced manual therapy techniques, pain science integration, and biopsychosocial awareness to support complex cases.

This multifaceted journey continues to inform my clinical practice—combining performance-based insight with therapeutic precision.

My objective is to empower individuals to move optimally, rehabilitate thoroughly, and pursue sustainable outcomes beyond pain.
